As the passengers realize in horror that they are once again in Minos' deadly game, the train becomes electrified. Their train car separates from the rest of the train and is redirected to a remote station, sealing Zoey, Ben, and other passengers Rachel, Brianna, Nathan, and Theo inside. She and Ben give chase straight into the Q subway train. The pair find the headquarters derelict and are accosted by a vagrant who steals Zoey's necklace. Zoey is encouraged by her therapist to move on from her trauma and to get over her aerophobia, but she opts to drive with Ben instead of flying. 12/3/2023 0 Comments Bettertouchtool features![]() It also comes with a text-to-speech reader and QR code scanner, too, making it even more useful.MagicPrefs is more than 5 years old now and is no longer maintained, the functionality it provided was made possible by Api's that are now deprecated and reverse engineered private Apple frameworks. The text is then copied to your clipboard, ready to be pasted wherever you need it. All you need to do is trigger its keyboard shortcut and drag its selection box over the text you want to copy. TextSniper is beautifully simple in premise, but works fantastically well. Add the lightweight TextSniper app to your arsenal, though, and things get so much easier. If you spend a lot of time transcribing text from images, you know how time consuming and tiresome it can be. TextSniper ($7) Image used with permission by copyright holder If the madness in your menu bar gives you palpitations, it is time for Bartender. And you can even adjust icon spacing should you wish. There is a Bartender Bar that shows your hidden icons in a separate area underneath the menu bar. You can set triggers - such as when your battery gets low or when you disconnect from Wi-Fi - that will hide or show menu bar icons. It is a great quick fix to something Apple still has not solved.īut dig a little deeper and it has features fit for power users. Click the menu bar (or simply hover your mouse over it) and they reappear. Get Bartender, though, and that becomes a thing of the past.Īt its simplest, Bartender lets you hide as many icons as you want from view. Unlike the Windows taskbar, there is no built-in way to hide this disarray, or even a way to bring a little order to chaos. The more you use your Mac, the more your menu bar gets filled up with icons. It is a simple solution to a persistent MacOS bugbear. The apps are context-sensitive (it won’t suggest you open a photo in TextEdit, for example), and you can even run scripts directly from the menu. It lets you add apps to the right-click menu, giving you quick options for opening files. We have previously praised this excellent app, and it is easy to see why. Unless, that is, you use Service Station. Changing the default app you use to open files is a long-winded and tedious affair, and its app suggestions are often completely wide of the mark. It might not seem like much, but the right-click menu in MacOS is a real pain. Service Station (Free with in-app purchases) Service Station gives a lot more control over what you see on the context menu Image used with permission by copyright holder It is perfect for quick interactions, then once you are done, it slides back out of your way. At your command, it briefly slides a small app window on top of whatever it is you are working on - for instance, you could be typing an email - then use Slidepad to bring across a Slack window to reply to a colleague’s message. This app brings the iPad’s Slide Over feature to the Mac. But regardless of what Apple does, you can bring the two systems a little closer together with a nifty app called Slidepad. ![]() Slidepad ($13 with free trial) Image used with permission by copyright holderĮvery year, people continuously bring up the idea that Apple will merge MacOS and iOS (spoiler: It’s not going to happen). Apple may try to keep its Macs pretty locked down, but BetterTouchTool proves things do not have to stay that way. You can customize Magic Mouse controls, keyboard shortcuts, and even the Touch Bar, chopping and changing them in whatever way you want. You can customize any gesture on your Magic Trackpad or create your own, giving you the ability to really make your Mac your own.īut it does not just work with the Magic Trackpad. Where Swish is quick and simple, BetterTouchTool gives you the power to tune things exactly the way you want them. Swish is not the only great gesture utility on MacOS - BetterTouchTool is another brilliant app that overhauls your trackpad gestures. BetterTouchTool ($8.50 with free trial) Image used with permission by copyright holder It integrates so well into the MacOS experience that it feels like a native Mac feature, it’s that natural. You can snap windows into all manner of formations and even move windows across desktop spaces. Once you get the hang of it, Swish reveals itself to be much more powerful than it first seems. It outfits your trackpad with a range of new gestures for controlling windows: Swipe down to minimize, swipe up to maximize, swipe left or right to snap to the edge of the screen, and more. Every now and then, you stumble upon an app that feels like it was designed by Apple - but wasn’t. 12/3/2023 0 Comments Alternative to headless cms drupal![]() It showed itself in mobile phones, on our smart televisions, in our cars, in our virtual assistants and wearable devices. Content in its many shapes and forms started to appear all around us. Gradually our computers got smaller and less obvious. We read blogs, watched YouTube videos, and listened to podcasts on our personal computers. Content is everywhere and manifests itself in so many forms through text, audio, video, and more.įor a long time, computers and browsers were the main tool for content consumption. Why Do You Need a Headless CMS?įor starters, there’s no downplaying the role of content in today's world. “Content Management” sounds kinda boring, right? And CMS? “ESo let’s talk about how and why a CMS might help you out. And it wasn't until I started working with Strapi that I recognized my assumption. Well, we use these things to build our front ends, but we often overlook the content management side of things when we think about building a front end like that. I thought I understood Headless CMSs because to me they were “data, API, frontend” and that’s how I thought about it. Working for a CMS was like diving head first into this ecosystem. So I really like GraphQL, and that’s how I got started with Strapi. With headless you have the opportunity to tailor different experiences for different platforms all from a single content source. This is becoming a really important benefit for headless CMSs for many organizations. You need to create custom and personalized experiences Should you need to upgrade to a more modern front end or add a new front end altogether, headless makes this much easier. Going headless also means that you’re less dependent on a single solution for a front end. This is something some traditional CMSs still struggle with today. You need a secure content solutionĭecoupling the front end from the back end makes targeted attacks much harder. And for many developers, this is a critical advantage. You don’t want to give up developer flexibilityĪdopting a Headless architecture by default means that you have the flexibility of selecting a front end tool of your choosing. Monolithic vs decoupled vs headless architecturesīesides serving content to multiple platforms, there are a couple other reasons why you would want to use a Headless CMS. I like to use this diagram to illustrate how Headless works, so hopefully it paints a clearer picture. The content and its data are only accessible via calls made to the API, whether it's REST or GraphQL. What is a Headless CMS?Ī headless CMS has a back end where content is prepared – and that's it. Instead, if you want to learn more you can have a look at an article I wrote that goes deeper into various types of CMSs. In this article, however, I won’t get into the nitty-gritty of it. What is a CMS?Ī Content Management System (CMS) is a tool that helps users create, manage, and modify digital content. Since then, I have developed a pretty good understanding of what these things do – so let's get into it. And after years of ignoring CMSs as a technology, in mid 2020 I got a job at Strapi, a headless CMS tool. Life has a funny way of making you try things. I'll also introduce you to a new type of CMS that seems to be everywhere at the moment – the Headless CMS. ![]() In this article, we'll cover what CMSs are and why you should care about them. WordPress, for example, powers nearly 40% of the internet today. CMSs are pretty hard to ignore because they're everywhere on the internet. |
